>> carolyn: good morning, thanks for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. novato fire investigators are looking for one or hour arson enlists suspected of setting a spree of fires last night. it started in the ignacio area that was told by a dozen or more grass fires on the hillsides nearby. this one burned up to a house, but no serious property damage. novato has been plagued by fires over the years. they think it was probably the work of kids. >> we probably have an idea these are juveniles. we don't know for sure but that is direction we're leaning. our arson investigators are on the scene. >> carolyn: they won't give specifics how those fires are being started. anyone with information should contact novato police because they are the ones leading this investigation. >>> in the east bay, investigators believe faulty smoke detectors may have led to a deadly fire in bay point. contra costa fire crews were called to the valley oak town homes yesterday morning. fire chief says the body of a woman in her 60s were found in the building. the fire destroyed one unit and damaged two other

his silence to help track down the men who beat him. >> carolyn: they beat him and called him a terrorist. the victim is sharing his story only with abc7. it happened november 21 and just today police released this first sketch of one of those attackers. thomas ramon spokes with the victim. >> he is a 32-year-old eastern industrial designer who was attacked. he said he had nightmares and afraid to leave his home. they are asking for the public's help in finding his attackers. >> i just got in the car and just in my spot. >> he lives in pain and fear. it's because a trip he made to the lucky store. three men approached his car as he was leaving. >> they were hitting me and calling me a terrorist. a third member came out of no one. >> reporter: these are photos taken after the attack. he lost six teeth and two plates in his face holding his jaw together. that injury was caused by this bottle of tequila that his attackers dropped into the car. >> i certainly believe the bottle hadn't gotten stuck there they would have kept beating me. >> this the parking lot was filled with shopp

into an argument with another man in the restaurant. carolyn tyler has the story. >> reporter: for years this jack-in-the-box has been open 24/. >> you are kind of hungry you can go to jack-in-the-box. >> some neighbors in the surrounding residential area say this fast food restaurant is a magnet for drunks and troublemakers, especially after the bars close at 2 am. >> we need to close that jack-in-the-box between 2 am and 4 am to make sure that the neighbors have a chance for peace and quiet at night. >> reporter: david lee has started an online petition to have the restaurant's hours restricted. more than 400 people signed in just two days. many point to what happened early thanksgiving morning when according to police a fight inside the jack-in-the-box escalated into an intentional hit-and-run at the gas station down the street. offduty state firefighter albert martol remains in critical condition. that is when city hall learned the restaurant was operating around the clock without the proper permit and critics are now seizing the opportunity to try to close it for two hours overnight. >>> that

. good morning, everyone. thanks nor joining us, i'm carolyn tyler. at least six occupy oakland protestors face charges this morning, including vandalism assaulting police officers and possessing explosives after an anti-police march last night. starting around 8:00 they marched from the plaza. they snaked through downtown. they claim they have been harassed at occupy oakland events in recent weeks. some marchers broke patrol windows, vandalized news advance and someone also lit a fire near 8th and washington street. they uncovered an explosive equal to a quarter stick of dynamite. some occupy oakland protestors are condemning the actions of others saying the majority do not condone that violence. and occupy san jose they will march today from city hall to the santa clara county courthouse starting at noon. this event coincides with the court case held 126 years ago known as santa clara county versus southern pacific railroad. this 1886 case stemmed from the railroad's refusal to pay taxes. it was a dispute over ch

in for carolyn tyler. san francisco police say they are still investigating a case of a stolen monkey that was returned to the zoo yesterday. here's a picture of banana sam safe in his keeper's arms. the 17-year-old squirrel monkey was taken by the zoo thursday night. zoo officials say someone cut through the gate, climbed through the roof of the primate exhibit building and broke into the squirrel monkey habitat. a man called police yesterday and said he found the monkey in stern grove two miles from the zoo. he said he coaxed the monkey into his backpack. he said banana sam seems okay but they doubt that recovery story. >> he looks pretty good. thirsty, hungry, trembling a little bit but we did an exam and he did pretty good. knowledge. >> is it easy to coax a monkey into a backpack? >> i would say not. a monkey would be place into a backpack forcefully. >> the investigation remains open. so far the man hasn't tried to claim the $5,000 reward. he won't be on business play for a while. keepers want to make sure he's okay and repair the damage to his habitat. >>> there is throwing con
